NuBus card provides QuickDraw accelerated video output with a maximum 1152x870 (1152x882)? resolution at 32-bit color. Resolution can be changed in the Monitors control panel or CSM following restart, though holding option does not reveal resolutions incompatible with the detected sense pins. Performance closely matches the Thunder IV cards, though instead of a DSP header this card features a 30-bit DAC for more precise control of the 24-bit color pallate displayed.

Description:
NuBus card provides complete 68040 hardware environment with 128k of onboard cache and two interleaved banks of 30-pin SIMMs (8x 16MB pictured) for a maximum 128MB dedicated RAM. Headers for optional dual DSP daughterboard or optional SCSI-II daughterboard (not pictured.) Disk and I/O are passed through the host Macintosh except in cases where a SCSI-II daugherboard is configured as the only storage device. Earlier (25MHz, 33MHz; non-"Stage 2") can act as a system accelerator on Macintosh II series hosts up to System 7.1, after which Apple modified AppleTalk's ability to communicate with hosts over NuBus interface as Rockets are. All Rockets including Stage 2 can also act as a dedicated windowed desktop running discreetly within the host OS. This works beyond 7.1 and on any NuBus host machine including 040 and 601-based, but only up to 8.1, and seems to operate with more stability in earlier SSWs (anecdotally.) Captive Rocket's OS cannot exceed 7.1.
